Calling All Female Veterans – Let us help you obtain the VA benefits you deserve

On December 3, 2015, Defense Secretary Ash Carter announced the decision to open all U.S. military combat positions to women. This is exciting news! However, women have been serving in the U.S. military since 1901. Did you know that according to the Department of Veterans Affairs women are the fastest growing group within the Veteran population? Despite the number of female veterans in this country, most of the veterans seeking benefits are male. Where are all these female veterans?

According to the Department of Veterans Affairs, among Americans who experience a traumatic event 50% are women. Of those exposed to trauma, about 20% will develop PTSD. If the trauma is combat exposure or sexual assault, the chance of developing PTSD is even higher. Women Veterans, this is a call to you. If you experienced a sexual assault, or any other injury while in the military and you have a physical or emotional disability as a result of that injury, you have the right to seek compensation and/or pension benefits from the Department of Veterans Affairs.

If you have already filed for benefits and have been denied, give us a call. Goodman Allen Donnelly’s Veterans Benefits Group has experienced attorneys, including four women attorneys, who have successfully represented female veterans.
